Announcements 9/20/24

Good Afternoon Rockets! This is your Friday update from the Main Office.

  • Last call for students interested in the BIPOC Women in Natural Sciences Career Field Trip. See Mrs. Vasquez in 3-111 today for information or to sign up.

  • Do you need Dental Care? We have a free on-site clinic happening next month for students who qualify. Please see Mrs. Vasquez in 3-111 or the Nurse for questions or a registration form.

  • Macalester college will be visiting the CCRC room 3-105 on Monday September 23rd at 9:45.  If you would like to attend the visit, pick up a college visit pass from the counseling office or the attendance office.

  • Rockets, remember if you are attending the dance on Saturday night you must have your student ID to get in and you can not enter the dance after 9 PM on Saturday.

  • Good Luck to our Football team tonight!  Go Rockets!

Good Afternoon Rockets! This is your Thursday update from the Main Office.

  • JM PRIDE will be meeting today in room 2-214. We will be working on our homecoming parade sign and creating the new safe space posters. We will also be discussing morning meetings for JM PRIDE. Everyone is welcome! 

  • Rockets, remember if you are attending the dance on Saturday night you must have your student ID to get in

  • Tomorrow’s dress up day is Spirit Day-  Wear your JM merch.  Especially your 2024 HOCO shirt!  If you still need a HOCO shirt you can buy one in the Main Office for $10

Announcements 9/18/24

Good Afternoon Rockets! This is your Wednesday update from the Main Office.

  • Just a reminder that Fall Speed training for all athletes not enrolled in a fall sport is taking place at the football stadium at 3:45 today.  Remember they train every Monday and Wednesday at 3:45 after school.  Look for updates on the Google Classroom or Email Coach Rein (Ryan) with any questions.     

  • There is a change to the start date of the JM Rocket Radio Club. The new start date is Wednesday, October 2  afterschool in room 5-110!  

  • Attention all students interested in a future career in business.  Business Professionals of America (BPA) will have our first informational meeting tomorrow September 19th in room 3-G00 at 8:15am.  Hope to see you there!

  • Chess Club starts today in room 3-209 Mr. LaRochelle’s classroom.

  • Congratulations to our girls soccer team for beating Albert Lea last night 5-0! Great job, Rockets!

  • Tomorrow’s dress up day is Pajama Day - Wear your favorite PJ’s

Announcements 9/17/24

Good Afternoon Rockets! This is your Tuesday update from the Main Office.

  • Rockets, the afterschool meal program is back up and running from 3:45 to 4:15 Monday through Thursday in the cafeteria.  If you are staying after school for a sport or activity stop in for a meal.

  • Students, if you want to register for an honors OPTION in a designated class, registration ends October 1. First see your teacher for information on the requirements. Then register in the ALL THINGS HONORS Google classroom or see Mrs. Cobb in 3-G01 for more information.

  • Seniors, if you hope to earn an honors diploma, please take a minute to fill out the interest form in the ALL THINGS HONORS Google classroom by October 1. You may also request a credit check in this form. See Mrs. Cobb if you have questions.

  • FCCLA members, there will be a club meeting after school today in room 2-203. 

  • JM Rocket Radio Club is starting tomorrow afterschool in room 5-110!  This year we are doing more soldering projects, building antennas, listen to satellites and get ready to get our first radio Technician License!  Students that pass the Technician License test will have their FCC application and testing fees paid for.  See Ms. Erickson in 5-110 for more information.

  • Reminder the JM STEM Mentoring club is starting today afterschool in room 5-110 with Ms. Erickson.  If you are interested in participating in the SE Regional STEM Fair in the Spring.  This may be the club for you.

  • Attention all students interested in a future career in business.  Business Professionals of America (BPA) will have our first informational meeting on Thursday, September 19th in room 3-G00 at 8:15am.  Hope to see you there!

  • The Homecoming Dance is this Saturday  7:00 to 10:00 PM in the Gym.  Tickets are $10 and will go on sale starting tomorrow through Friday September 20.  If you are bringing a date from another school, pick up a date form in the Main Office.  The date form must be completed before your guest’s ticket can be purchased.  As a reminder, no one will be allowed to enter the dance after 9:00 PM.  

  • Tomorrow’s dress up day is Twin Day - Match with your friends!

  • Rockets, are you dressed like a minion or gru today.  At the end of 7th period meet in the lobby for a giant group photo.

Good Afternoon Rockets! This is your Monday update from the Main Office.

  • If you didn’t have your picture taken last week, Lifetouch will be back on Wednesday for picture make-up day.

  • Samuel Kasper, a freshman at John Marshall, has received a special recognition from Wolfram Research. Samuel’s project on "Transforming Radiology and Patient Experiences Using Cloud and Machine Learning” received notice through the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge. To be recognized by a large technology company is quite an honor. Congratulations, Samuel.

  • FCCLA members, there will be a club meeting on Tuesday 9/17 after school in room 2-203. We will be discussing the float as well as other items.  If you cannot make it, see Mrs. Hansen or an FCCLA officer and we will fill you in on what's happening.  Otherwise check Google Classroom for announcements. See you there!

  • Have a great idea for creating a new app for your phone?  Curious about why or how something works the way it does?  The JM STEM Mentoring club is starting this Tuesday in room 5-110 with Ms. Erickson.  Work with mentors from Mayo Clinic to explore your own curiosities.  To be ready for the SE Regional STEM Fair in Spring and eCybermission for Freshman start NOW.  Come Tuesday's after school to register with Oraculi (oar-a-cull-ee) and get help!
