Housing & Interior Design is just one, of many classes, taught in the Family & Consumer Science Department. Lucas, a sophomore in this class, shared that he has most enjoyed working on floor plans because it allows him more creative freedom but with some functional constraints, such as cost, flow and functionality. Shelly Hansen-Spallees loves teaching this class to see how creative kids are and just how many are passionate about design.
There are many real-life applications from this class …. deciding to rent or buy when looking for housing, career awareness, how to invest hard work in a big project, and just applying what they learn to the places they call home. This class encompasses topics such as housing psycho-social aspects, spacing, traffic patterns, floor plans, design, etc… Just step into this classroom and you will see how invested students are.
