In honor of its 50th Anniversary this year, RPS Community Education is seeking submissions of artwork by our community members about our community to reinforce the lifelong learning mission of Community Education through our publications, event wear, items for sale, and other ways. • Bring a trash bag on your family walk and fill it with any trash you find.
• Try "earth painting" by using mud as paint on sidewalks or paper or use non-toxic watercolors to paint river rocks.
• Create a Recycle, Reuse, Reduce collage: Use "trash" (paper scraps, labels, junk mail, and other found items) and glue to create a multimedia masterpiece.

On Friday, April 19th, the CHS admin team together with the Equity and Engagement leadership team of RPS organized listening sessions during the lunch hours. The event was aimed at providing students and staff an opportunity to discuss the racial slur posted on the bridge by our school. The listening sessions allowed for powerful and constructive conversations among students and staff. Equity specialists from Mayo and JM participated in our conversation. We look forward to additional student led discussions on new initiatives and awareness events.

Today we had author Rory Londer come speak to our World Lit juniors about his journey to sobriety. It was amazing. The kids were riveted and he stayed after school and talked to each and every kid who wanted to talk to him.
In our efforts to bridge the communication gap and further engage families in their student's education, RPS partners with TalkingPoints to introduce two-way communication into our school communities. Currently, our families are utilizing TalkingPoints in over 40 languages, helping families remove language barriers.
This school year, our staff and families have exchanged over two million messages through TalkingPoints. We hope to continue the conversation with you!
April is National Bilingual/Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month and a time to celebrate the linguistic diversity that bilingual and multilingual students and families bring to our school community. As a school district, we support our multilingual families with the help of multilingual and bilingual specialists who help break language barriers and strengthen communication between our staff, students, and school communities.

Congratulations to our speech team for their great results at sections. Basmalla Hussein took second in Extemp speaking and Eli Utne took third in Creative Expression and as a result both are qualified to go to state on April 20th. Also Keira Basbelle took 7th in Extemp Reading and Matthew Tollefson took fourth in Humorous Interpretation. Erik Hill took 6th in Extemp speaking.
